You know, I never understood why Scully was sooo afraid of that woman. I mean, realistically, there was nothing that Mulder saw in the other chick. She belonged to another life, to another person. But this man, Mulder, he belongs to Scully. And she belongs to him. Would also like to point out, since Scully wouldn't put herself on the line for anyone else but Mulder, they were cemented in the Fandom Hall of Fame.

But her being there did "advance" the story plot. If only for that perfect "Touchstone" speech. Because it was Perfect

I dunno. I think it was because Mulder did seem to gravitate towards the fowl one as someone who would share his viewpoint, even though it may not have been the best idea. Plus, it was like she swooped down and went after him full throttle sometimes. Also, I think that Scully seems to have an inherent jealous streak... see Bambi and the cop from Syzygy.

And yeah, that Touchstone moment was pure gold. :)
